The Pūkaha Wairarapa Garden Tour takes place over two days from Saturday 5 to Sunday 6 November, and is a major annual fundraiser for Pūkaha National Wildlife Centre north of Masterton.
To celebrate 12 years, a record number of 15 gardens are included this year, all in the South Wairarapa and Carterton districts, including eight new gardens along with old-favourites Richmond Garden, Mara Manu, Dead Rabbits Run and Grand Illusions to delight and inspire.
The 2022 tour showcases rural native plantings, flourishing edibles, smart designs for urban spaces, flowers galore, sustainable gardens, subtropical delights plus mighty remnant regenerating forests.
An added feature this year is a market fair with stalls in the stunning garden at Aig An Taigh in Purutanga Road, Martinborough, also open to the public for koha.
Unlike bigger garden tours and festivals, the Wairarapa Garden Tour spans a compact area, supports fundraising efforts of other local charities and benefits local conservation outcomes.
