Olives from the Wairarapa

Some of the country's best olive oil comes from the Wairarapa. Take a tour of a grove, do an on-site tasting and chat to the growers. They're a passionate bunch!

River Grove Olives lies on the banks of the Ruamahanga River in Masterton. The olive grove has around 1,700 trees. River Grove blends different olive varieties as well as offering single varietal extra virgin olive oils.
Spend an afternoon at Olivo - the Wairarapa's oldest commercial olive grove with a Tree to Table tour. Wander through the groves, learn about different olive varieties and what happens throughout the year. Then finish up with a tutored olive oil tasting - from pure extra virgin oil to intriguing infusions. You will learn how to taste extra virgin olive oil like the professionals do!
Follow your feet on these guided tasting experiences that include olive oil tasting, wine and food matching, a few brews and a sneaky peek behind the scenes - all within the Martinborough township of New Zealand's only true wine village.
