Specialising in buying and selling rare, second-hand and new books on Military History across the ages, aviation, naval, guns and machines.
It's appropriate that Messines Bookshop is located in militarily historic Featherston Booktown.
The shelves have books that look back as far as the battle of Megiddo in 1479 B.C. and onwards, to the battles of the 21st century A.D. in Iraq and Afghanistan. There are books on keeping the peace in war torn countries, on the machines by which war has been waged and history created.
The name of the bookshop derives from the Battle of Messines in Belgium in 1917, where New Zealand troops, trained at the Featherston Army Camp. Featherston is twinned with Messines.
Lincoln Gould is the founding Kaumatua of Featherston Booktown.
