Carterton Daffodil Festival

Keen daffodil pickers at Middlerun

Daffodils, markets and steam train rides? It must be spring! Celebrate the annual fun-filled Carterton Daffodil Festival on Sunday 8 September 2019.

Ride on a heritage steam train, pick armfuls of daffs at historic Middlerun, and enjoy all the other events in Carterton town centre - from the street markets to Horse Drawn Surrey Rides.

Come on the Steam Train from Wellington:
The steam-powered 'Daffodil Express' train makes a special return trip from Wellington, departing Wellington Railway Station at 8.20am - buy tickets or learn more here. There is also a chance to enjoy a return trip between Carterton and Masterton departing 10.50am - learn more here.

Bus transfers to Middlerun:
Free buses throughout the day shuttle people to and from Middlerun - a small fee is charged to pick the daffodils with all proceeds going to the local Plunket and St John.

Wai Art Sale:
While in Carterton check out the Big Wai Art Sale at the Carterton Events Centre - Fri 6 to Sun 8 Sept from 9am - 5pm. It's a giant cash and carry sale held (the same weekend as the Daffodil Festival) by local artists who demonstrate their craft on-site as well!
