It is with great disappointment that the Featherston Booktown Board of Trustees has decided to cancel the 2020 Festival scheduled for 7-10 May 2020.
The Board are putting the health and safety of the Featherston community, writers, volunteers, audience members and other guests above all other considerations in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the latest guidelines from the New Zealand Government.
Featherston Booktown would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused – but hope that in making this call any inconvenience will be minimised. Check their website for updates.
The Featherston Booktown festival is a wonderful weekend of books, ideas, conversations, workshops, stories, provocation and inspiration enjoyed by all ages each year in May.
Featherston is one of only 22 accredited Booktowns in the world, and the only one in New Zealand. Criteria for international Booktown status include having a certain number of book shops in the local community, (Featherston has seven and counting), and hold a regular book festival.
There are always plenty of events for all ages and interests at the annual Booktown festival, celebrating everything to do with books. You can take part in workshops and interactive sessions, go to the popular book fair including stalls with rare and second hand books plus you'll be able to hear authors speak.
