Some of the best Wairarapa eats & drinks
There are so many reasons why people love coming to Wairarapa, and with the heavenly food here who could blame them.
You don’t need to traverse the Remutaka Hill Road to enjoy our culinary treasures – the table is set for all takers.
Here are a few suggestions on where to go:
Starting with brekkie, Don Luciano in Masterton brings a splash of Central American colour to the table. Owner Marvin Guerrero, a native of Honduras, serves the best of Central American street food and his very own roast of coffee.
Staying at the head of the valley, Koi Lounge - Spice Craft & Whisky in Kuripuni Village serves authentic Indian and Malaysian inspired cuisine. The food is stunning, and if you are partial to whisky – the really good stuff – then you’ve hit the jackpot! Ask them to match a whisky to your taste.
At The Screening Room, (also in Kuripuni), you don’t have to watch a movie to enjoy a meal. Vice versa, you don’t need to eat a meal to enjoy a movie. But when both are on offer, why wouldn’t you? The 60-seater cinemas are super comfy, and the food delicious.
The road to Greytown’s gastronomic delights is well-travelled. Food Forest Organics, Salute Tapas Restaurant & Bar, The Offering, Main Street Deli Café, Greytown Hotel, The White Swan and Schoc Chocolates are all there and sure to leave you salivating.
But let’s have a little shout out for Food Forest Organics, this is the one with the Hollywood connection. Owned by James and Suzie Cameron, (of Titanic and Avatar fame), the produce and grocery store serves up scrummy seasonal plant-based meals, (Wednesday to Sunday lunches), together with delicious smoothies, gluten free and refined sugar free cakes, slices and other treats.
